How we check a casino
The short version
Every casino page on this site runs the same four checks in the same order: the licence and its register status, the company behind the casino, where a complaint goes, and the payout terms.
Our team tests the casinos and checks every fact on a casino's page before it is published. That gives one page for each of the casinos we have checked, so the same four things can be read side by side.
The company and the licence
We start with the company the casino's terms name, then the licence number and the regulator the casino prints.
Next we look the licence up in the register that holds it. For a casino licensed in Great Britain that is the public register of the Gambling Commission; for a casino licensed elsewhere it is the licence register the casino's own terms name. We record the register entry and its status as the register shows them.
Where a complaint goes
We read the complaints route in the casino's terms: first the casino, then the independent complaints service it names.
The Gambling Commission sets out the same order. Its guidance says a complaint goes to the gambling business first. If the business's answer does not settle it, after 8 weeks the complaint can go to an ADR provider, a free, independent service the business names. The Commission does not resolve or make decisions on complaints about gambling transactions, so it is not the place for a payout dispute. We name the complaints service on a casino's page only where the casino's terms name it.
Payout terms
We copy the payout terms as the casino prints them: withdrawal limits, the pending period, the withdrawal time and the minimum withdrawal. Amounts are written in pounds as the casino prints them for UK players and are never converted; a figure printed in another currency is quoted as printed.
Where the facts come from
The facts come from the casinos' own pages and from the registers. The sources block on each page lists them by home domain and says what each was used for, and our team's tests of the casinos are listed there as a source of their own.
A term a casino changes is corrected when the page is checked again, and the page's Last updated date moves.
Who makes these checks is set out on the page for the Is Legit team.
If you think we are wrong
If a fact on a page looks wrong to you, or a casino has changed a term, write to info@islegit.co.uk and say which page and which fact.
We read the casino's own page again and correct ours if it differs. The page then shows a new Last updated date.
