Privacy policy
This page says what data Is Legit collects, why, how long we keep it and what you can do about it.
1. Data controller
Is Legit runs islegit.co.uk, and the Is Legit team is the one that handles the personal data described on this page.
For any question about this page, write to info@islegit.co.uk. Who we are and what we do is on the about page.
2. Our principles
We collect as little as we can and keep it for as short a time as we can. The detail is in the sections below.
Is Legit is for adults. The minimum legal age for gambling in Great Britain is 18 in most cases, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us data, tell us and we will delete it.
3. What data we collect and on what basis
What you give us. The only way to give us information is to email us. If you do, we receive your email address, your message and anything else you put in it. We use it to answer you. The basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us.
What is collected automatically. Our server writes one access log line for every request to the site. Each line holds your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the response status and size, the referring page and your browser's user agent string. We use the logs to keep the site running and secure, for example to spot errors and abuse. The basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe site. We do not use the logs for analytics or advertising.
What is not collected. The site uses no analytics, sets no cookies of its own and stores nothing in your browser. Fonts are served from our own server and no operator logos are shown, so neither loads anything from outside. A short script on each page only works the page, for example the phone menu and the More menu; it makes no requests and stores nothing. Our cookie policy has the detail.
4. Third parties and external links
The site runs on a Hostinger server. Hostinger provides the machine; the access logs stay on it and we share them with no one.
The pages make no requests to outside servers, so there are no analytics, advertising or font services to send your data to.
If a court or public authority lawfully asks us for data we hold, we may have to provide it.
Casino sites and other outside sites we link to have their own privacy policies. This policy covers islegit.co.uk only, so read theirs before you give them any data.
5. Transfers outside the UK
The site is hosted in Germany, so the server logs are held outside the UK.
6. Retention and data security
Server logs are rotated daily and kept for 14 rotations, then deleted. That is about 14 days.
We have not set a fixed period for emails and do not state one here. You can ask us to delete an email you sent, as the next section explains.
We hold little that needs protecting: the logs on the server and any emails you send us. We do not state other security measures here, because none has been recorded for this site.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over the personal data we hold about you. In plain words: you can ask whether we hold data about you and for a copy of it, and you can ask us to correct data that is wrong.
You can also ask us to delete your data, to limit how we use it, and to stop using it where we rely on our legitimate interests.
To use any of these rights, email info@islegit.co.uk and say which one you mean. Our logs hold an IP address, not a name, so give the date and the page you visited if you want us to find your lines. Logs are deleted after about 14 days, so an older request may find nothing.
8. Right to complain
If you are unhappy with how we have used your personal data, write to us first. If we do not put it right, you can complain to the Information Commission’s Office (ICO), the body to complain to about how an organisation has used your personal information.
The ICO says: “In most cases, we recommend that you raise your concern with the organisation first and give them a chance to put things right.” It adds: “If you’re unhappy with the organisation’s response, you can then complain to the ICO.”
The ICO gives its phone number as 0303 123 1113.
9. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. Check that date when you return.
This policy sits alongside our terms of use.
