Responsible gambling for UK players

Free help for UK players

If gambling is causing you harm, or you are worried about someone else, contact a free help service before you do anything else on this site.

In England and Scotland, call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133. In Wales, call the NHS Wales Helpline on 0808 2819 265.

GambleAware says its support services are available only to Great Britain residents. We captured no help line for Northern Ireland, so we state none.

You can also go to GambleAware or Gamstop directly. Gamstop is covered under self-exclusion below.

Keep it in proportion

Decide what you can afford to spend and how long you will play before you start, and stop when you reach either limit. Take a break when play stops being a pastime, and do not chase losses with larger deposits.

Each casino sets out the limits, breaks and other tools it offers in its own terms, and they differ between casinos. Read them before you play and use them early.

A licence check is not a reason to deposit more. Our checks look at who runs a casino and what the Gambling Commission register shows, and that tells you nothing about what you can afford. Read how we check a casino for what a check covers and what it leaves out; the About page says who we are.

Self-exclusion

If you want to stop gambling online, register with Gamstop. Gamstop says that when you register with Gamstop Online, “you’ll be blocked from accessing gambling websites and apps licensed in Great Britain.”

The Gambling Commission says gambling businesses are required to have their own self-exclusion arrangements in place. A self-exclusion with one casino applies to that business only, so use Gamstop if you want to block every licensed online site at once.

Another casino is never a way around a self-exclusion. If you have self-excluded, do not open an account at a different casino, including one run by the same company or one that looks similar.

If you are struggling to keep to an exclusion, call a help line listed above.

Adults only

Gambling is for adults only. The Gambling Commission says that in most cases the minimum legal age for gambling in Great Britain is 18. Never let anyone under 18 use your account, your cards or your devices to gamble.

If a child, or someone who has self-excluded, uses the same computer, phone or tablet, restrict it. Give each person a separate account on the device, and protect your own account with a password only you know.

Do not let a browser or an app save your casino login or your card details, and keep your cards and phone away from anyone who should not gamble.

Ask whoever manages the device or the home network whether gambling sites can be blocked on it, and keep those settings behind a password you do not share. We name no blocking product here.
